Police say the man was carrying a gun and chasing after two other men when he ran right past three uniformed officers.
They ran after him, ordering him to drop the weapon.
Insead, police say he turned the gun on the officers, and one of them opened fire.
The man was hit in the leg and taken to Kings County Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. His loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene.
