Bronx subway screwdriver attack ends with 2 teens in custody

NEW YORK

Police say 17-year-old Jay Nelson punched a 45-year-old man in the face on a northbound D train at the East 170th Street/Grand Concourse station just after 2:30 Saturday afternoon.

His friend, 16-year-old Malik Cruz, then allegedly tried to stab the man with a screwdriver.

The victim is expected to be okay.

Nelson and Cruz are charged with assault and menacing.
