Police say the victim, Alfred Samaniego, was driving a 2011 GMC Acadia Denali westbound on the Glen Cove Road exit ramp of the Northern State Parkway at about 12:35 a.m.
He crossed over the northbound lanes and struck a US mail tractor trailer truck traveling southbound on Glen Cove Road.
Samaniego was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported. The investigation is continuing.
