New York City to unveil E-cycleNYC for electronics recycling

NEW YORK

E-CycleNYC is an in-building program that will allow New Yorkers to recycle devices like televisions, computer monitors, cell phones, printers and even fax machines.

Any New York City apartment building with at least 10 units is eligible to participate in the e-cycleNYC program.

Depending on the size and type of building, a variety of options will be available, including bins and building events.

Officials are holding an event at the North Shore Towers off the Grand Central Parkway in Floral Park Thursday morning to launch the program.

The Department of Sanitation hopes to have most building enrolled in the program before a ban on disposing electronics in residential trash takes effect in 2015.
