According to officials, the student ran out of PS 811- Mickey Mantle School on West End Avenue this morning.
The boy has a history of mental problems, officials said. They did not elaborate.
A Level 1 mobilization was issued as police fanned out around the school on foot and by air.
The student's parents eventually called the school to report that he had gone home. He is safe.
