It's affectionately known as Darth Vader.
The 53 foot, 80 ton machine is just the latest in the LIRR's snow fighting arsenal.
"It is propelled by a locomotive from behind, two locomotives actually," said Joe Calderone, LIRR spokesman.
We aren't expecting Tuesday to be anywhere near the type of snow that this spreader is made for, 15 foot drifts.
It will be primarily used on eastern Long Island where that type of snow fall is possible during the winter time.
"By having this piece of equipment stationed out east it frees up other equipment for us to use for points west to allow us to be more efficient with how we deal with major snow fall," Calderone said.
Which is not what we'll be seeing on Tuesday.
But the LIRR says it is bringing in extra crews in the morning to deal with any problems that may arise.
Rider Ron Wilson says for him it will be business as usual.
"I'm sure everything will be fine. How much snow can there be, four inches? The railroad runs. It may run late, but it still runs," Wilson said.
