An Elizabeth man is under arrest, charged with stabbing a woman to death in her home over the weekend.

Richard Gill, 20, was arrested at his Atlantic Street home Sunday afternoon and charged with murder, felony murder and burglary.

Bail was set at $1 million.

Shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday, Elizabeth police officers rushed to a North Avenue apartment building on a report of an unresponsive female to find the victim, 50-year-old Sharon Serball.

Serball had been found on her bedroom floor by a relative and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an intensive preliminary investigation, Gill was identified as a suspect and located.

A motive for the homicide has yet to be definitively determined, but investigators believe he and victim were known to each other.

Additional information about this case will be released as it becomes available.

The investigation into Serball's death remains active, and anyone with information is being urged to call Elizabeth Police Department Detective Thomas Koczur at 908-558-2048 or Detective James Szpond at 908-558-2041.
