Freezing rain causes accidents, travel headaches

TRENTON, N.J.

Authorities say numerous accidents and spinouts were reported Sunday morning as roads turned slick and slippery.

Motorists are being urged to slow down and use extra caution, especially on rural and side roads, and to delay or avoid travel if possible.

Conditions will not improve until Sunday afternoon, as temperatures slowly rise into the low to mid 40s and the frozen rain changes over to plain rain.

The latest winter weather woes come just days after a major snowstorm dropped several inches of snow across the state and bitter cold invaded the region. And forecasters say the deep freeze will return Monday night, when lows will drop to the single digits and wind chills could hit 15 degrees below zero.
