One fire started at a home on 191st Street and 109th Avenue around 10:30 and quickly grew to a second alarm.
Crews had to use a blow torch on one rig that had iced over, but managed to get the flames under control in about an hour.
The second fire, also a two-alarm blaze, broke out on 198th Street and 104th Avenue around 11:30 p.m., as the first fire was waning
Authorities say the flames started in the basement and spread to the first floor.
It took firefighters a little more than two hours to contain the flames.
No one was seriously hurt in either fire.
The causes remain under investigation.
