The incident happened just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in front of a home on Trinity Avenue.
Authorities say the suspect entered a livery taxi on Bruckner Boulevard. Then, when they arrived at his destination, the man displayed a knife and stole the victim's cell phone and cash.
The driver was not injured.
The suspect is described as Hispanic male in his 20s, standing approximately 5-foot-9 and weighing 180 pounds.
