Jersey City police fire shots after stolen car chase

JERSEY CITY, N.J.

At about 3:30 a.m. a car was reported stolen from St. Paul's Avenue.

Officers spotted the car on Tonnelle Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard occupied by two men.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor, police attempted to stop the vehicle, and the men took off with police in pursuit.

At some point the stolen vehicle rammed into a marked Jersey City police car in the area of 269 Bright Street.

Authorities say two officers got out of their cars and fired their weapons, but no one was injured in the gunfire.

Two people were taken into custody.

At this point, the prosecutor's office says, it appears the officers actions were reasonable.
