Fans lose bid to name Manhattan corner 'Beastie Boys Square'

NEW YORK

Fans lost their fight to name a Manhattan street corner after the legendary rap group.

They wanted to rename the corner of Irvington and Ludlow streets Beastie Boys Square after it was featured on the cover of group's classic album "Paul's Boutique."

An online petition had more than 1,500 signatures supporting the idea, but the community board said Tuesday night that not enough of them were from local residents.
