A University of Maryland student from Long Island was struck and killed by a hit and run driver Friday.

22-year-old Cory Hubbard from West Hampton Beach was crossing a street in College Park Maryland early Friday morning when he was hit.

Witnesses say the driver didn't even slow down, and just kept going.

Hubbard's fellow students are stunned anyone would leave someone in the street to die.

The alleged driver turned himself to police Friday afternoon, 14 hours after the incident.

Hubbard, a stand-out athlete, was a senior at the University of Maryland and just months away from graduating.
