Queens diner assault investigated as possible hate crime

NEW YORK

Investigators with the hate crimes task force are looking for two women and a man.

They say the suspects yelled anti-gay slurs at a man and a woman inside the Neptune Diner on Astoria Boulevard in Astoria.

According to police, the verbal dispute escalated into the victims being assaulted with plates thrown at them.

Both were taken to Astoria General Hospital with lacerations to their head.
