A hiker from New York City was rescued after a snowstorm stranded him on a volcano in Hawaii.

Alex Sverdlov spent two nights on the frozen Mauna Loa Volcano on the Big Island with nothing but a bottle of frozen water and a sleeping bag.

Fortunately, Sverdlov registered his hike with park rangers so they knew to go looking for him.

Thursday morning, a helicopter found him.

Sverdlov is sunburned and wind-whipped but otherwise fine.
