Two volunteer firefighters on Long Island who rescued a dog from an icy lake were honored Thursday evening.

Teddy and his owner thanked the firefighters at a board meeting of the Village of Rockville Centre in Nassau County.

Two weeks ago, the firefighters saved Teddy after he fell through an icy pond at Hempstead Lake State Park.

Teddy is very lucky to be alive. He spent nearly 30 minutes in that icy water before firefighters could reach him.
