The driver, identified by police as 42-year-old Wu Wu, was issued summonses Friday for not having the vehicle inspected and not having a headlamp or a license plate light. No criminal charges have been filed and police have said it appeared to be an accident.
The mother, 36 year old Min Lin, was hit just after 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Fei Long Market on 8th Avenue in Bay Ridge.
The plow, removing snow during the Nor'easter, backed into her and killed her while she was loading groceries into her car with her husband.
Lin was almost 8-months pregnant, and the baby was delivered by emergency C-section.
Our partners at DNAinfo obtained pictures from Lin's family.
Lin was rushed in critical condition and cardiac arrest to Maimonides Medical Center, where she died. Doctors were able to deliver her 6-pound, 6-ounce son in less than 60 seconds. He is considered full term and remains in critical condition.
Neighbors of the family in Bay Ridge remember Min Lin as a quiet, devoted mother who even helped clean up the sidewalk recently despite her pregnancy.
"We was all cleaning up snow. She was helping with the shoveling. It's sad," said neighbor Iris Soto.
The Lins also have a 5 year old son Kevin. It's not clear if the father has had the heart to tell him yet about his mother.
