First they smashed a stolen Ford pickup truck right through the glass doors. Then they wrapped cables around the massive safe full of jewelry and hauled it out the door where a front end loader was ready to scoop it up and dump it into another getaway car.

It was precise and took less than two minutes.

"They were professional. They had a plan and executed it very well," said Det. Mike Kelly with Paramus Police.

The heist happened on Valentine's Day. Despite the imprinted time on the surveillance video, it was actually 5:45 am.

Police say the team of robbers stole at least two Ford trucks, a construction vehicle and possibly a 3rd pick up for the getaway. All for the one break-in.

"It's depressing. W all our hard work put together, couple min take away from you. Heartbreaking," said Joseph Ayaz, owner of the Jewelry Center.

Ayaz owns the jewelry center on route 4 in Paramus. He has more than 30 vendors selling jewelry here but only one was targeted. Early estimate is at least $250,000 worth of jewelry stolen.

Another hundred thousand in damages to the building

Surveillance cameras caught the break in but not the getaway. Next step for police is figuring out where the robbers are planning to cash in all the stolen jewels.

Anyone who saw the incident or has information is asked to contact the Paramus Police Department at 201-262-3400 extension 553.
