Fire tears through row of stores in Port Richmond

PORT RICHMOND

The flames broke out around 3 a.m. at a commercial space on Bennett Street in the Port Richmond neighborhood.

The blaze tore through the strip of stores, but thankfully no injuries were reported.

The FDNY had more than 30 units and nearly 140 firefighters on the scene.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Richmond University Hospital.

The cause of the fire, which was brough under control around 6 a.m., remains under investigation.
