Emergency pothole repairs are underway this week just north of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

Crews began working Monday night to mill and replace two inches of pavement in all four northbound lanes of I-87/I-287 in Rockland County between mile marks 16.2 and 16.5

Crews will work between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., ending Wednesday morning.

The New York Thruway Authoriity says intense winter weather and the freeze/thaw cycle have created a significant pothole problem on the roadway north of the bridge, as well as other areas along the 570 mile Thruway.

On Monday night, the two right-hand lanes will be closed for pavement repairs until 6 a.m. on Tuesday. The two left-hand lanes will be closed for the same duration from Tuesday evening into Wednesday.
