Twenty-seven-year-old Ivey Dixon, of Hempstead, was ordered held on $15,000 bail. She is an unemployed single mother of three.
The incident happened on an N6X express bus in Franklin Square around 3 p.m. Monday, all because of a missed stop.
Cell phone video shows Dixon going ballistic on Keisha McGregor, punching and hitting her, with a young child by her side.
Witness Anthony McLaughlin said he felt the tension growingand knew things were going to escalate, so he started recording the confrontation with his smartphone.
"I knew it was going to pop off, because she said when she stopped she was going to hit her," he said. "And she started attacking her, it was kind of crazy."
After the beat down, the Dixon grabbed a little girl's hand and walked off the bus. The driver called for help, cleared the bus and was taken to a nearby hospital.
In an exclusive interview with Eyewitness News reporter Stacey Sager on Tuesday, McGregor said the worst part for her was that none of the 30 or so passengers lifted a finger to help. Instead, she says, they shot video.
"And all I know, she just start pounding me," she said. "First she threw a bottle at me. She threw a water bottle at me, then she start to pound me even when I had my foot on the brake."
McGregor says no one came to her aid, with at least two passengers using their cell phones not to call 911, but to shoot video of the attack.
McGregor was in court Thursday morning, as were several other bus drivers who showed up to offer support.
