NEWARK

The shootings, four hours apart, left two other peple injured. The bystander has been identified as 43-year old Velma Cuttino.

The first shooting happened in the Central Ward, where police arrived on the scene at Irvine Turner Boulevard around 5 p.m.

There, they found Cuttino and Wesley Childs, 20, dead, another man wounded and four cars crashed into one another.

One car was filled with bullet holes, and authorities were investigating if the shooting was a response to the crash itself.

Neighbors say Cuttino was waiting at a red light in a pickup truck when shots were fired and she was struck.

The wounded man is still in the hospital.

The second incident happened about a mile away, at the 300 block of Avon Avenue, around 9 p.m.

Anthony Flowers, 22, was killed and another person wounded. Officials did not identify the victims or a motive.
