8 injured when car crashes into Bronx store

PARKCHESTER

"All of a sudden vroom and, and then the walls started crumbling," said Lily Gonzalez, an injured worker.

Lily Gonzalez described the moment a car crashed through the front of her East Avenue office. She and 20 other coworkers were inside C&C Market Research and barely escaped with their lives.

"No one was killed. That's a miracle. That's a miracle," Gonzalez said.

Cellphone video captured the chaos right after a black Dodge Charger barreled into the building, scaring and confusing those nearby.

"It sounded like a big boom, you just heard the glass shattering," said Chris Henry, a construction worker.

"It sounded like a bomb went off, so I just hit the floor," said Min Choi, a store clerk.

Firefighters arriving on the scene quickly treated or transported those who were hurt.

Three people reportedly suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. Five people suffered minor injuries.

As for the driver, witnesses say he was parking and may have hit the gas instead of the break.

Lily Gonzalez, now nursing a wrenched shoulder, says the driver appeared as stunned as she was.

"He just came right in. He wasn't drunk. It was an accident," Gonzalez said.
