Iris Howe, who is black, claims her neighbor, who is white, has terrorized her family for more than four years and she has filed a hate crime lawsuit.
Howe says the woman harasses her children, calling them the n-word and telling them to die.
Howe's lawyer says this started the day his client moved into their Mount Prospect home.
"This is really an awful reminder of things you wouldn't expect to see in this day and age. And it reminds us more of sort of a Jim Crow South than a 2014 Chicago," said William Kraus, plaintiff's lawyer.
The lawsuit asks for damages against the neighbor. We have been unable to reach that neighbor for comment.
