Marvin Williams, 28, of Bridgeport, is charged with possession of narcotics, risk of injury to a minor, reckless endangerment and third-degree assault, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
Police responded to Lexington Avenue and Calhoun Street Thursday around 2:45 p.m. where witnesses told them Williams was assaulting a 13-month-old. Before they arrived, a witness separated the child from the man, who police confirmed was the child's father.
According to a police statement, the suspect tried to burn the child with a lighter when the witness took the baby away.
