Pedestrian struck by livery cab in Astoria

A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a livery cab early Sunday morning in Queens.

The accident happened at about 12:40 a.m. when the victim, a man in his 20's, was hit as he attempted to cross Steinway Street at 31st Avenue in Astoria.

The man was unconscious when EMS arrived and was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

The livery cab driver remained on the scene, and police do not believe there was any criminality involved, but an investigation is continuing.
