Bloomingdale standoff involving kids, guns, ends peacefully

A woman who was barricaded inside a New Jersey home with children and weapons inside surrendered peacefully after a standoff Tuesday morning.

The tense scene played out on Reeve Avenue in Bloomingdale starting just after 10 a.m.

Authorities were called to the scene on reports of a woman holed up in the house holding children hostage.

Heavily-armed police and SWAT teams responded, and the suspect surrendered around 11:30 a.m. She was immediately apprehended on the front lawn.

She was followed outside by two young children, who were snatched up by police.

No injuries were reported.

Police searched the home and reportedly did find guns.

Further circumstances of the incident are unknown at this time.
