The NYPD initially reported a burglary on February 25th at 512 Hudson Street, in which the men gained entry and stole electronics.
Upon further investigation, police now say there has been a pattern of 25 other burglaries, that took place from February 5th to March 17th in Chinatown, Tribeca, and the West Village.
Police say the suspects gain entry via the front doors of the locations and generally remove electronic items and cash.
"It's a miracle no one's been hurt, that's good," said Jack Dampf, a victim of one of the burglaries.
It's a good thing he wasn't home on Hudson Street in the unit he shares with three roommates.
On February 26th, he left for work at 9:15 a.m. Police say sometime between 9:20 and 12:45, the suspects broke into the apartment.
Andrew Friedman was the first of the group to get home that evening. The door was slightly cracked.
"Looked around for my laptop, noticed it was gone, that's when it hit me. I kind of realized maybe I should yell out and see if someone was still here," said Friedman.
The suspects were long gone but not empty-handed, taking three Ipads and four laptops.
There was no sign of forced entry, but sources tell Eyewitness News that when the suspects targeted an apartment on Forsyth Street they did break the locks.
"Our automatic locks on the door are now working, those weren't on and we're more cognizant of making sure our door is dead bolted before we leave," said Dampf.
So far there have been 14 break-ins in Greenwich and the West Village, 8 in Chinatown and 4 in Tribeca.
Back on Hudson, Jeremie Rodriguez works at a wine shop right next to Andrew and Jack's apartment. Police did stop in and warn them to look out for the suspects.
"They are hitting up people's apartments and houses and now they are hitting up people's bars and wine shops and liquor shops," said Rodriguez.
