The body of designer James Ott was recovered Thursday in Brooklyn and the medical examiner's office confirmed that the body was positively identified by family members Friday.

The cause and manner of death are pending further studies. The body was recovered by NYPD floating off 58th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

James "Jay" Ott was last seen entering his apartment in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn in March.

His friends launched a search for him, plastering posters on subway stations throughout New York City. He reportedly suffered from anxiety, but his friends said at the time that they could think of no reason to explain his sudden disappearance.

Ott worked for Ashley and Mary Kate Olsen's clothing line at one point.
