Two dead in shooting in Queens

Two people were found shot to death in the Ridgewood section of Queens Thursday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., according to the New York City Police Department, police were called to a home in the 1800 block of Summerfield Street. They found two people shot inside.

Natalie Mejia-Tavares, 21, who lived in the residence, was found shot in the torso.

Louis Oscar Padilla, 21, also lives there and was found shot in the head, police said. He was identified later on Friday.

The super at the building Thursday night said that the two were a couple and had moved into the building a few weeks ago.

On Friday, police were calling the shootings a double homicide and were actively searching for a suspect.
