Many participants in the second annual 'Sandy Hook 5k' wore pictures of the victims during the race. The goal is to pay tribute to the 26 people who lose their lives, and to show the strength and resilience of the community.
Runners say it is another step on the long road to healing from the tragedy.
Proceeds from the race go to the Newtown Memorial Fund, which provides financial support to those most directly impacted from the shooting.
