Police hunt for suspect in attempted rape in Astoria

NEW YORK

Investigators released a surveillance picture of the man officers say attacked a woman in Astoria back on February 22nd.

Police say a 22-year old woman was walking on 30th Avenue at about 3:25 a.m. when the suspect approached her from behind and pushed her to the ground.

Once on the ground, he tried to rape her, but she fought with him, causing him to flee the scene.

The victim received cuts and scratches to her legs and buttocks but refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is a Hispanic male in his early 30's, 5'7" tall, weighing 145 pounds.
