Just after 2:00 p.m., Jersey City Police responded to 28 Seidler Street on a report of shots fired.
Responding officers found the victim, 48-year old Kenneth Chisolm, on the hallway floor and unresponsive.
He was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center and pronounced dead.
Detectives believe that Chisholm walked out into the hallway from his apartment, where he was shot multiple times.
Police say he had just moved into the apartment recently. A motive for the murder has not yet been determined.
