NEW YORK
Authorities believe the same suspect has stolen cash from four East Side establishments since late February.
In a fifth incident, the man shoved a 70-year-old woman to the ground after threatening her with a knife, but he didn't get any cash.
The suspect usually demands money and sometimes shows a small, silver knife. He then removes cash from the registers and, in some cases, assaults the victim.
The suspect is described as a black male, 45 to 55 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 and 190 pounds, last seen wearing a dark waist-length jacket, a blue hoodie and blue jeans.
The incidents are as follows:
On Feb. 22, around 8 p.m. at the 217 Laundromat at 217 E. 26th St., the suspect removed $300 from the register.
Around 7:25 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Alpine Cleaners, 178 E. 70th St., the victim gave the suspect $200.
Around 6:45 p.m. on March 12 at the Elegant Cleaners and Tailors, 168 E. 24th St., the suspect took $300 from the register and punched the victim in the face. The victim did not require medical attention.
At 7:25 p.m. on March 27, at the 29th Street Cleaner, at 212 East 29th St., the suspect had a knife and demanded money. When the victim refused, the suspect punched the victim in the face and threw her to the ground. The suspect fled without any money.
At 5:20 p.m. March 29, the suspect removed $500 from the register at Lok's Laundry at 354 E. 81 St.
