Elizabeth Hernandez was found stabbed to death inside her home in Shirley last July.
The mother of two had an order of protection against estranged boyfriend Cleon Brown.
Police say he fled New York before he was indicted for her murder.
The accused man will soon appear before a magistrate's court. Police say extradition proceedings are expected to get underway.
