Four arrested on Long Island in fake kidnapping scheme

HICKSVILLE

According to a statement from the Nassau County Police Department, four suspects devised a fake kidnapping scheme and called the "victim's" family April 3, reporting the kidnapping and demanding $2,000 in ransom.

Around midnight on Saturday morning, police found the defendants at the EconoLodge Motel in Hicksville in no apparent duress. Police also found a clear plastic bag believed to contain illegal drugs in the room. But there was no victim of a kidnapping or any other crime.

Police arrested Wendy Suprien, 20, of New Cassel; Scharday Hilton, 28, of Huntington Station; Wisard Dextra, 20, of Westbury and Sheyla Diaz, 19, of the Bronx. Each is charged with one count of second-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree conspiracy and third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

They were scheduled for arraignment Saturday.
