LIRR service restored after fire

NEW YORK

PSE&G Long Island said a power line fell into a utility pole at Railroad Ave and Garden Street in Westbury, causing it to catch on fire. Although the fire is now out, crews continue to remain on the scene. Wind may have caused the pole to fall.

Commmuters should expect delays of up to 45 minutes in both directions on both branches.

LIRR had advised customers to use alternate LIRR branches, including Babylon, Montauk, Oyster Bay and Hempstead branches. Some LIRR trains were held at the nearest stations and some were canceled out of Penn Station.
