Jacques Louis, 39, of Brentwood, was driving a 2007 Mustang and pronounced dead at the scene, according to the New York State Police. Sean Anderson, 25, of Smithtown, who was driving a Subaru, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital and pronounced dead there.
The cause of the wreck is under investigation. The westbound Southern State closed between exits 40 and 39 around 4 p.m. and reopened around 9:45 p.m.
