Pedestrian struck and killed on Queens street

NEW YORK

It happened at about 9 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and 107th Street in the Richmond Hill.

According to police, 54-year-old Oscar Pauzhi of Queens was found lying in the street with severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital.

Investigators said a 2006 Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on Atlantic Avenue in the right travel lane, approaching the intersection of 107 Street, when Pauzhi entered the roadway, heading northbound on Atlantic Avenue, and was struck by the vehicle.

The driver stayed on the scene and no arrests have been made.
