It is something most students at the Robert F. Wagner Secondary School for Technology and the Arts never imagined.
"I was just shocked and yes, just shocked. I couldn't believe it," said student Karen Vergara.
35-year old Annie Schmutz Seifullah is accused of having sexual encounters at school, during school hours, on separate occasions, with three different men.
"It shouldn't be acceptable. If you're a principal, you should be, like, a role model to kids our age," said parent Harpreet Singh.
One of the principal's alleged partners was the father of a student. He has not been identified to protect the student's identity.
The relationship is said to have ended in bitterness, with the principal accused of infidelity and the father turning over school computers and other evidence containing sexual photos of Ms. Seifullah.
The school is located in a modern, refurbished facility, it has respectable academic statistics. But we found a big difference between how students feel about the principal as an educator and how they feel about the allegations against her.
"She was actually a very good principal, you know, she did a lot for our school, but whatever she did was unprofessional, but she got to live with it now," said student Ash Rahman.
In a statement, the Department of Education said "We are appalled by these disturbing allegations and the Department acted swiftly to remove the principal while the matter is under investigation. This type of alleged behavior is completely unacceptable for any DOE employee."
"Everyone makes mistakes and you just have to learn from it, like, she just did something wrong," said student Jailene Pimentel.
Ms. Seifullah is under suspension as principal and reassigned to non-school based duties while her case is under investigation.
