A manhunt continues on Long Island for the suspect who gunned down two men and kept a neighborhood at bay for more than 12 hours Monday.

Now, the victims have been identified.

Leonel Volcy, 27, and 19-year-old Yvenel Fede were found around 1 p.m. in front of a home on Belmont Parkway near Greenwich Street in Hempstead.

Police said a person was seen running into a home after the shooting, and it wasn't clear if anyone was still inside or if there was a hostage situation. Police cordoned off the street, and a tense standoff ensued. It ended when police stormed the house overnight Tuesday, but did not find the suspect.

The shooter's identity wasn't known.

Neighbors were advised to say inside their homes and avoid standing near the windows.

"Oh my gosh, you see it on TV, you see it in movies, you never think it's going to happen in your neighborhood, right around the corner from you," area resident Katrina Johnson-Greene said. "It's insane."

Neighbors stood outside waiting for news and hoping the violence was over.

"We're just hoping no one else has to get hurt, that's the biggest thing," another neighbor said.

There have been no arrests, and there is no word about a possible motive.

A $5,000 reward is being offered in the case.
