MOUNT KISCO, New York (WABC) -- People in Westchester County who may not have a family to spend Thanksgiving with are getting a free dinner, thanks to a generous restaurant owner.

It's a tradition now in its sixth year, hoping to spread a little joy with a special reason behind it.

"Since holidays are all about being with family and with people and having a smile on your face rather than being home alone and depressed," said Bonnie Saran, the restaurant owner.

Saran owns five restaurants in Westchester. She says it was her feelings of loneliness after coming here from India that led her to give back on Thanksgiving.

She invited one and all to the Little Drunken Chef, a tapas and oyster bar with a catchy name in Mount Kisco.

"She said in the Facebook ad it was for people who weren't going to have an awesome Thanksgiving, everyone was welcome here to have a great day," said Ariana Medina, a patron. "It was like, let's mix it up and have a new experience."

The buffet is your classic American Thanksgiving meal, with an Indian twist.

"I just walked in. Didn't know what kind of food, there's American food, Indian food, it's very good. Excellent," said Mark Testa, a patron.

Saran's employees volunteer their time, staffing what has become an annual tradition in Mount Kisco. More than 250 meals were served on Thanksgiving.

"I'm very happy to be here, it's a great Thanksgiving atmosphere," said Kathy Joy, a patron. "It's a wonderful thing this lady's done. God bless her."

"There's nothing that can define that kind of happiness, no monetary value, it's a great feeling," Saran said.

A Happy Thanksgiving indeed!
