HARTFORD -- A new coalition is releasing a report that outlines the student debt problem in Connecticut.

The Alliance for a Just Society and the Connecticut Citizen Action Group were scheduled Thursday to unveil the report called "A Mountain Debt." A news conference was planned at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. Students, graduates and parents grappling with student debt were expected to be on hand.

The report includes personal stories from 20 students and graduates.

Also on Thursday, the coalition plans to launch a campaign dubbed "Ed Not Debt CT." The group contends the Connecticut General Assembly has cut funding for higher education by nearly 22 percent since 2008, forcing students to make up the difference through higher tuition costs.
