NEW YORK (WABC) -- Thursday, students in New York City will head back to class, and there's several new initiatives rolling out this school year.

In four of the city's most impoverished districts there are more than 100 new literacy coaches.

On the radio Wednesday morning, Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city has seen continuing progress when it comes to test scores, and he doesn't intend for it to stop now.

Mayor de Blasio says the city's graduation rate is also the highest it's ever been at more than 70%.

He hopes that number will continue to grow as well.
