SAYREVILLE (WABC) -- A teen from New Jersey is facing child pornography charges after police say he posted inappropriate pictures of female high school classmates on social media sites.

The 18-year-old Sayreville boy was arrested as a result of a two-month investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes Unit and the Sayreville Police Department's Juvenile Aid Bureau.

The suspect's identity is not being released because he was a juvenile at the time of the initial investigation.

The defendant is alleged to have possessed, distributed and posted on social media sites inappropriate photographs of underage female students of the Sayreville War Memorial High School.

Detectives from the New Jersey Regional Computer Forensics Lab Task Force and the Sayreville Board of Education assisted in the investigation.

The suspect is charged as a juvenile with multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child, invasion of privacy and cyber harassment.
