RED BANK, N.J. (WABC) -- Classes are cancelled Monday at two schools in Red Bank, New Jersey after a series of underground explosions rocked the downtown area.

Utility crews need to repair the electrical vaults beneath Broad Street, after transformers exploded Sunday afternoon.

Three buildings were cleared as a precaution and more than 200 homes and businesses lost power.

Red Bank Catholic High School and St. James Elementary plan to re-open Tuesday.

No injuries were reported.

Power was shut off to the area while repair work continues. Police say there was "plenty of smoke" in the area but no fire.

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the explosions.
