NEW YORK (WABC) -- A local contestant is competing on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" Friday (September 15).

Ren Peir, a Brooklyn resident, was laid off from her past two jobs exactly one year apart from one another. She had last worked in marketing.

She says competing on the show will be a transformative experience for her.

"I've never seen this amount of money in my bank account, so this would be life changing," Peir said.

"Who Wants to be a Millionaire" airs at 2 p.m. EDT on ABC.
