NEW YORK (WABC) -- It takes a team to put together a successful program. The folks who produce "Scandal" on ABC are a cohesive team.

They are so close, Kerry Washington who plays "Olivia Pope" actually leads a cheer on the set before they start filming.

In the tight-knit world of "Scandal" it's all for one and one for all.

"There's no way that I could do what I do without leaning on, and relying on, and being inspired by the crazy talent around me," said Kerry Washington, "Scandal" actress.

The cast gathers every week to Tweet live with their fans. In fact, these actors are so close, Columbus Short and Katie Lowes admit, "We're obnoxious."

When Kerry Washington was up for an Emmy award for her acting she told her co-stars, "This nomination belongs to all of us."

So it comes as no surprise to learn she leads a cheer on the set before the start of filming every episode.

"We'll do this cheer after we've done rehearsing, 'Ladies and gentlemen,

Episode 301!' And, then we all bang on things, bang on walls and clap," Washington said.

No wonder Jeff Perry compares the mood on-set to a girls' sleepover!

"I mean people truly get a kick out of each other, truly make each other laugh, truly enjoy coming to work," Perry said.
