HARLEM (WABC) -- On a beautiful summer's day in Harlem, Prince was inducted into the Apollo Theater's Walk of Fame.

Back in April they mourned his death, and now in June they came to enshrine him the best way they knew how.

On the day Prince died, some in Harlem learned of his death from the Apollo's marquee, while others paid him tribute by singing along to his biggest hits.

A younger generation looks to Prince now for inspiration.

Those who will never have the privilege of playing with him and those who were at his side for years share a common sentiment: Nothing compared to Prince.

This event is the start to a big evening there Monday. Guests were arriving to attend the Apollo's Spring Gala hosted by L.L. Cool J.

The event also features the legendary "O'Jays".

Long after the glitz and the glamour is over, any fan of Prince will be able to come to the Apollo to see his plaque and pause to reflect on what Prince's music has meant.
