NEW YORK (WABC) -- Actor Robert De Niro was hit with a bill by the IRS for $6,410,449.20 in taxes, according to a lien obtained by the Smoking Gun website.

De Niro was hit with the bill for unpaid federal taxes on his Tribeca condominium. The Feb. 3 lien lists De Niro's residence as a Tribeca condominium that was developed by the actor and his real estate partners.

According to the report, the IRS sent a notice to New York City's Department of Finance, reporting that De Niro, 71, owed the bill in connection with his personal 2040 filing for 2013.

De Niro's lawyer said the actor never knew about the money he owed because the bill was sent to the wrong address. De Niro has since paid off the debt.

The lien reported that the assessment was filed three months ago against the two-time Academy Award winner.
